Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, or thermoplastic styrene resin, is made by polymerization of butadiene rubber with acrylonitrile and styrene or acrylonitrile copolymer/styrene.
ABS is one of the best blends between a resin and an elastomer, and its success is due to its excellent technical properties.
It is rigid and tough even at low temperatures, very hard, and impact and scratch resistant.
ABS products lend themselves to manifold uses from packaging to components for the automotive industry, furniture, toys, household appliances, and various electronic devices.
Depending on what the end product will be used for, ABS may contain different percentages of monomers (styrene, acrylonitrile, butadiene)
The material is easily reusable through post-production recycling, both in extrusion and post-thermoforming processes.

ABS sheet has well-balanced mechanical characteristics, i.e.:

  • good stiffness values
  • impact resistance
  • flexural and tensile strength

The sheets are easily thermoformed, cut, perforated, glued, painted, and are an excellent base for screen-printing.

The MP3 trade name for thermoplastic sheet made of ABS resins is MP LAC.  The standard products designed based on our in-depth knowledge of market requirements are: LAC 500, LAC 700, LAC UV

 

 

LAC 500
The main applications are:

  • farming machinery and motor vehicle interiors 
  • pallets for automatic handling
  • industrial containers
  • shower basins and bathtub panels

LAC 700
Thermoplastic sheet suitable for more difficult and deeper thermoforming .

The main applications are:

  • motor vehicle interiors
  • earth moving machines
  • industrial containers
  • in general, all applications where high impact resistance and deep thermoforming are required 

FINISHES

Both product lines are available in the following finishes:

  • natural smooth and embossed (semi glossy)
  • matt and embossed
  • with embossing (3 different types)
  • with lamination (decorative PMMA film)

COLOURS
A vast choice of colours in the standard range or alternatively various sample-based imitations.
MP3’s engineering department is highly specialised in colour identification and imitation.
Lamination of decorative PMMA film allows numerous aesthetic solutions, such as: steel, satin, aluminium, imitation wood finishes, etc.

UV TREATMENT
The special additives in ABS sheet (LAC 500 and LAC 700) increase its resistance to ultraviolet rays and  atmospheric agents.  This product can therefore be used for outdoor applications.
UV treatment is particularly suitable for products subject to long outdoor exposure, such as: ski racks, exterior car and caravan accessories, swimming pool equipment, etc.
