This practice is known as\u00a0<b>Greenwashing<\/b>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6695&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The term <strong>&#8220;Greenwashing&#8221;<\/strong> could be defined as<strong> &#8220;misinformation&#8221;<\/strong> to present an environmentally friendly public image, making products and objectives ecologically appealing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This practice affects many industry sectors, especially plastics, which make up the food packaging in which they are largely used, <strong>particularly in the dairy sector for desserts and yogurts.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contrarily to mere greenwashing, a<strong>ny new plastic packaging project that uses recycled or compostable plastic materials and thus reduces its environmental impact <\/strong><\/span><strong>must be scientifically studied to assess what real environmental improvement it provides.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, it is important to introduce<strong> LCA<\/strong>\u2019s concept (<strong>Life Cycle Assessment<\/strong>) to combat plastics\u2019 perception as a highly polluting material.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some years now, <strong>MP3<\/strong> and the <strong>ILPA Group<\/strong> have invested in specialised skills to study projects aiming to be &#8220;green.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our colleague <strong>Laura Genovese Ph.D.<\/strong> is a trained <\/span><b>LCA practitioner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which means she has specific vocational training to carry out life cycle assessment studies.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>LCA<\/strong> is an instrument used to assess the environmental impact of a product\u2019s life cycle by quantifying the resources used (energy, raw materials, water, etc.) and the emissions into the environment (air, water, soil, etc.).
